Novo Tall with Brim draws a bold, slender line from the ceiling: a 16-inch cylinder only 1.6 inches wide, finished at the bottom with a flat 6-inch brim and a glowing Luminous Ring. Over a dining table by a window, as in the maker's winter photo, a kitchen island, a bar or a reception desk, it reads as both sculpture and working light. The tall proportion fills the space under higher ceilings and in stairwells and double-height rooms, and its Modern, minimal form suits Transitional, Scandinavian and contemporary interiors, restaurants and offices.

A 5 W LED delivers 368 lumens of warm 3000K light at 90 CRI, aimed down by the brim onto the table or counter, while the Luminous Ring adds a soft edge of light. The light source stays out of sight, so there is no glare for anyone seated nearby. The universal driver in the 5-inch canopy dims on TRIAC, ELV or 0-10V controls, and the cable is adjustable on site.

About Blackjack Lighting and Stephen Blackman

Blackjack Lighting is a design- and technology-driven lighting maker based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, outside Chicago. It is led by industrial designer Stephen Blackman, its President and Chief Design Officer. A Syracuse University industrial design graduate, he entered the lighting industry in 1984 at Sonneman Design Group and founded his own studio, Blackman Design Associates, in 1988, designing for manufacturers such as Kichler Lighting before launching Blackjack in 2013. His focus has always been practical: fixtures built around LED light from the start, with even, glare-free light, here stretched into a tall cylinder with a brim.

What ceiling height does it need?

The pendant itself is about 16.5 in tall and needs at least 17 in from the ceiling. It looks best with ceilings of 9 ft or more, or over a table where the brim can sit 30 to 34 in above the top.

How many over an island?

Two pendants suit a short island, three a longer one, spaced 24 to 30 in apart.

How is it installed?

It mounts to a standard ceiling junction box with a 5 in canopy holding the driver. The cable can be shortened on site. A qualified electrician should install it; see the linked instructions.

Which dimmers work with it?

TRIAC, ELV and 0-10V dimmers on 120 to 277V circuits.

Which finish should I choose?
