Blackjack Lighting Glass Sphere 8-Inch and 12-Inch LED Pendant

A clear blown-glass sphere with a slim glowing cylinder suspended inside, the Glass Sphere almost disappears in daylight and turns into a floating point of light at night. The LED sits in a frosted cylinder at the top of the sphere, so you see a soft glowing column rather than a bare source, and light passes straight through the glass to the room. The 5-inch canopy holds a 120-277V universal dimming driver, so each pendant installs over a standard junction box, and the 96-inch cable adjusts on site for standard or tall ceilings.

About Blackjack Lighting and Stephen Blackman

Blackjack Lighting is a design- and technology-driven lighting maker based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, outside Chicago. It is led by industrial designer Stephen Blackman, its President and Chief Design Officer. A Syracuse University industrial design graduate, he entered the lighting industry in 1984 at Sonneman Design Group and founded his own studio, Blackman Design Associates, in 1988, designing for manufacturers such as Kichler Lighting before launching Blackjack in 2013. FAQ

8 in or 12 in: which size should I choose?

Choose the 12 in for islands, dining tables and larger rooms, where each pendant needs to carry more light and presence. Choose the 8 in for clusters, bedside drops, smaller tables and rows of four or more.

How many should I hang over an island?

Two or three 12 in spheres suit most 6 to 9 ft islands; use three or four 8 in spheres on similar lengths. Space them evenly, at least 6 in in from each end, with the glass 30 to 36 in above the counter.

What does it need in the ceiling?

A standard ceiling junction box for each pendant. The 5 in canopy holds the 120-277V driver, so no remote transformer is needed.

Will it work with my dimmer?

Yes. It dims on TRIAC (incandescent-style), ELV and 0-10V controls, so it works with most home dimmers and commercial systems.

Does it use replaceable bulbs?

No. The LED is built in, and Blackjack covers the LED and power supply for three years. It is rated for dry indoor locations.
