About Blackjack Lighting and Stephen Blackman

Blackjack Lighting is a design- and technology-driven lighting maker based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, outside Chicago. It is led by industrial designer Stephen Blackman, its President and Chief Design Officer. A Syracuse University industrial design graduate, he entered the lighting industry in 1984 at Sonneman Design Group and founded his own studio, Blackman Design Associates, in 1988, designing for manufacturers such as Kichler Lighting before launching Blackjack in 2013. Is Flexi bright enough to work by?

Yes. At 480 lumens and 90 CRI, it gives clear, color-accurate light for reading, writing, computer work and close tasks when the head is set 12 to 18 inches above the surface.

Does it need installing?

No. It is a plug-in table lamp: set it on the desk, plug it into a standard outlet and adjust the arm and head. The instruction sheet above shows assembly.

How do I dim it?

Use the three-level control on the lamp. It does not need a wall dimmer.
