Color Gel is a small jewel of a pendant: a 2.5-inch puck of translucent resin in Red, Green or Blue that glows all the way around while clean white light shines straight down. Hang a row over a white kitchen island, a bar or cafe counter, a restaurant banquette, a kids room or a retail display, and it adds a spot of color that reads from across the room. The compact, Modern shape suits contemporary, Scandinavian and playful Transitional interiors alike.

It is practical light as well as color. The integrated 3 W LED gives 133 lumens of 3000K light at 90 CRI downward, so the counter below still gets true, usable light while the resin glows in color around it. The 5 in canopy holds a universal driver that dims on TRIAC, ELV or 0-10V controls from 120 to 277V, and the cable is field adjustable, so you set the drop on site. Socket finishes come in Matte Black, Polished Chrome or White.

About Blackjack Lighting and Stephen Blackman

Blackjack Lighting is a design- and technology-driven lighting maker based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, outside Chicago. It is led by industrial designer Stephen Blackman, its President and Chief Design Officer. A Syracuse University industrial design graduate, he entered the lighting industry in 1984 at Sonneman Design Group and founded his own studio, Blackman Design Associates, in 1988, designing for manufacturers such as Kichler Lighting before launching Blackjack in 2013. His focus has always been practical: fixtures built around LED light from the start, with even, glare-free light for real work, even in a pendant as playful as Color Gel.

How high should I hang Color Gel?

Over an island or bar, set the bottom of the pendant 30 to 36 in above the counter and space several about 18 to 24 in apart. The cable is field adjustable, so you can fine-tune once it is up.

What does it mount to?

The 5 in canopy mounts to a standard ceiling junction box, with the driver inside. Have a qualified electrician install it; see the installation instructions above.

Which dimmer works?

The integrated universal driver dims on TRIAC, ELV or 0-10V controls, on 120 to 277V circuits.

Can I mix colors?

Yes. Each pendant is ordered in its own color and socket finish, so a row of red, green and blue works well over a bar or play area.

No. The LED is built in, and Blackjack covers the LED and power supply for three years.
