About Blackjack Lighting and Stephen Blackman

Blackjack Lighting is a design- and technology-driven lighting maker based in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, outside Chicago. It is led by industrial designer Stephen Blackman, its President and Chief Design Officer. A Syracuse University industrial design graduate, he entered the lighting industry in 1984 at Sonneman Design Group and founded his own studio, Blackman Design Associates, in 1988, designing for manufacturers such as Kichler Lighting before launching Blackjack in 2013. How far apart should I hang them?

For a row over an island or bar, 12 to 24 in between pendants looks balanced with a fixture this slim. Hang the bottom of each rod about 30 to 36 in above the counter.

What do I need in the ceiling?

One standard junction box per pendant. The 5 in canopy covers the box and contains the driver, so no separate transformer is needed.

Does it dim?

Yes. The canopy driver supports TRIAC (incandescent-style), ELV and 0-10V dimming.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Yes. Blackjack rates it for damp locations, so bathrooms and covered porches are fine; keep it away from direct water spray.

Are there bulbs to replace?
