This is the Besa Lighting Rise wall sconce. It measures 4.75" wide x 6.5" high x 5.75" deep. The glass can face upward or downward, and it installs to a standard 4-inch octagonal outlet box.

Rise is a simple, contemporary design of handcrafted cubed opal. The cube sits on a sleek arcing die-cast lampholder under a radiused rectangular canopy, and the soft white glass has an etched, satin outer layer for a tranquil glow. Besa lists Bronze, Chrome and Satin Nickel; Chrome and Satin Nickel are the finishes in stock here. Lamping on the standard version: 1 x 60W A19 medium (E26) base lamp, not included; dims with a standard incandescent dimmer (not included). LED version: 9W replaceable LED source, included; 800 lumens, 2800K, CRI 90+, rated 30,000 hours, 120V, dimmable. Besa photographs this fixture in Satin Nickel; the other finishes share the same glass and shape. 1 of the 4 glass, finish and lamp combinations are sold out at the moment and show as unavailable.

Best for

Bathrooms, powder rooms, bedrooms and hallways. The Rise suits powder rooms, bedsides, entries and narrow walls beside a mirror, with the cube facing up or down. Related: Rise 2-light vanity light, Rise 3-light vanity light.

Who this is not for

• Outdoor walls and open patios: Besa rates the Rise for damp locations, interior use only.
• Anyone who needs every glass identical: handcrafted glass varies slightly from shade to shade.
• Anyone who wants a bulb included: the standard version takes a lamp that you supply, and the LED version includes its own source.
• Anyone who wants one fixture to light a wide mirror: use a pair, or the 2-light or 3-light Rise.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and the Rise wall sconce is a small way to bring handcrafted Besa glass into a bath or hall: one soft cube, a slim plate and no fuss. Besa Lighting pairs American design with European glass artisanship: its shades are hand-blown by skilled artisans using techniques passed down for generations, then hand-inspected at Besa’s factory in Ohio for color, pattern, thickness and size before they ship.

Buy once: durability and care

With the power off and the glass cool, wipe it with a soft cloth lightly misted with glass cleaner (spray the cloth, not the fixture), and dust the metal parts with a dry microfiber cloth (our advice). Lamps are replaceable, and installation by a licensed electrician is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

It measures 4.75" wide x 6.5" high x 5.75" deep.

Which bulbs does the Rise take?

The standard version takes 1 x 60W A19 medium (E26) base lamp, not included; dims with a standard incandescent dimmer (not included). LED version: 9W replaceable LED source, included; 800 lumens, 2800K, CRI 90+, rated 30,000 hours, 120V, dimmable.

Is the Rise wall sconce safe for a bathroom?

Besa rates it for damp locations, interior use only. That covers a steamy bath or powder room, but not an exposed outdoor wall.
