Besa Geo 9 Square Opal Glass Flush Mount Ceiling Light

• ✓ Hand-blown Opal Matte glass
• ✓ Square 9" shade
• ✓ LED or A19 bulb
• ✓ 3000K, CRI 90+
• ✓ Dimmable
• ✓ Damp rated

Geo is a simple, contemporary flush mount from Besa Lighting: a softly rounded square of hand-blown opal glass on a white aluminum fitter. Opal Matte is Besa’s soft white cased glass: an opal layer inside a clear outer layer that is acid-etched to a smooth satin finish, so the shade glows evenly with no hot spot. Geo 9 is the compact size for hallways, closets, small baths and bedrooms.

Pick the LED version with an integrated 15W LED, 1500 lumens built in (3000K, CRI 90+, rated 50,000 hours, CL dimmable), or the incandescent version for one 60W max A19 medium (E26) base bulb of your choice. Both versions look the same from below; the glass is held by three set screws, so it comes down easily for cleaning.

Best for

Bedrooms, hallways, home offices, bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens, and any room where a square ceiling light suits the architecture better than a round one. Use the Geo 9 where a larger fixture would be out of scale. Related: Geo 11 (larger), Epic clear glass flush mount, Paco 12 flush mount.

Who this is not for

• Outdoor porches: this ceiling version is rated for damp interior locations only.
• Anyone who wants a metal finish: Geo comes with a white fitter only, so the glass is the whole look.
• Rooms that need a statement fixture: Geo is designed to be calm and quiet.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and Geo is the kind of everyday ceiling light that makes a room feel finished: real hand-blown glass, an even glow and a dimmable LED that lasts. Besa Lighting pairs American design with European glass artisanship: its shades are hand-blown by skilled artisans using techniques passed down for generations, then hand-inspected at Besa’s factory in Ohio for color, pattern, thickness and size before they ship.

Buy once: durability and care

Switch off and let it cool, loosen the three set screws, lower the glass and wash it with warm soapy water, then dry it fully before refitting (our advice). The LED version is rated for 50,000 hours. Installation by a licensed electrician is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

What size is the Besa Geo 9?

It measures 9" L x 9" W x 3.75" H, per Besa’s spec sheet. Each shade is hand-blown, so allow for slight variation.

Should I choose the LED or incandescent Geo 9?

The LED version includes an integrated 15W LED, 1500 lumens at 3000K with CRI 90+ and is CL dimmable. The incandescent version takes one 60W max A19 medium (E26) base bulb, not included, if you prefer to choose your own bulb.

Can the Besa Geo 9 go in a bathroom?

Yes. Besa rates it for damp locations, interior use only, so it suits bathroom, laundry and powder-room ceilings. It is not rated for outdoor ceilings or for direct water spray.

How is the Besa Geo 9 installed?

It is hardwired and mounts directly to a standard 4" octagonal outlet box, centered on the fixture, so plan on a licensed electrician. Incandescent installs need 90°C supply wire.

What is Opal Matte glass?

Opal Matte is Besa’s soft white cased glass: an opal layer inside a clear outer layer that is acid-etched to a smooth satin finish, so the shade glows evenly with no hot spot.

Does Geo 9 come in other sizes?

Yes. Besa makes the same square shade as Geo 11 (larger).
