About the designer

Ernesto Gismondi (1931–2020), an aeronautical engineer by training, founded Artemide in 1960 with Sergio Mazza and led it for six decades, turning it into one of the world's leading lighting companies. He also designed many Artemide lamps himself, and in 2018 he received a Compasso d'Oro career award.

Driveways, paths and terraces where the light sits flush with the ground.

Who this is not for

• Renters or anyone without an electrician: it is hardwired to a junction box.
• Plug-and-play installs: this 24V DC light needs a separate remote power supply and professional installation.
• Anyone who needs it soon when choosing a special-order option: those are ordered from Italy and take 10–16 weeks.
