Uma redefines the lantern for the way we live now. Inside its diffused polycarbonate lens are 60 high-output LEDs that dim from 2700K to a fire-warm 2000K with a full-range light dial, and a 360° speaker that streams from any phone over Bluetooth. Touch-sensitive volume, a tan leather carry strap and a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 8 hours make it the centerpiece of any gathering.

Uma was designed for Pablo Designs by Milan-based architect and product designer Carmine Deganello, with Pablo Pardo and the Pablo Studio, and it arrives with a protective cotton bag. Uma Sound Lantern won a 2017 German Design Award, a 2016 Good Design Award in Australia and AZURE magazine’s 2016 People’s Choice Award.

Carmine Deganello works between Amsterdam and Milan, and his process starts with materials and hands-on experiments. A long-time Pablo collaborator (Solis was his first lamp for the brand), he has shown work at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan and the MAK in Vienna. Pablo Pardo, who founded the company in San Francisco in 1993, guided the design.
