The founder

Pablo Pardo

Venezuelan-born industrial designer Pablo Pardo founded Pablo Designs in San Francisco in 1993. Before lighting he designed children’s roller skates for Fisher-Price and concept cars for Chrysler; since then his studio has collected honors from ICFF, NeoCon, Red Dot and the German Design Award, and SFMOMA holds his Piccola lamp in its permanent collection.

The Pablo rule: strip an idea down to its essence, then make it something you use every day for years.

Pablo values permanence over the disposable: honest materials such as marble, wood, felt and spun aluminum, and a firm rejection of the disposable mindset.

Pablo works with a small circle of designers who share its less-is-more view. Here are the people behind the pieces we carry.

With the creation of Pablo Pardo's first product in 1993, he established a powerful and generative design philosophy. Since then, his core principles have informed the development of every light in the studio’s 25-year history. These products continue to move with culture while withstanding trends in design — and each one carries the underlying uniqueness that is distinctly “Pablo.”
