Meter, by Danish duo Maria Bruun and Anne Dorthe Vester, is a reinterpretation of the classic rice paper lamp. A handmade cocoon shade, translucent and soft, sits on a heavy, fluted column of raw aluminum, and the wires behind the shade echo the flutes of the base. One Meter stands 39.4" tall; Half Meter is 19.7" and can live on the floor or on a table. The dimmable bulb and a push-button cord dimmer are included.

About the designer

Maria Bruun and Anne Dorthe Vester are a Danish design duo whose practice spans architecture, design and fine art. They work with abstractions and functional hybrids, and with the aesthetics of materials and form in relation to the space around them, always with an intense focus on crafted detail.

Buy once: durability and care

Dust the cocoon shade gently with a soft, dry brush (our advice) and wipe the aluminum with a soft, dry cloth; never use detergents with abrasives or solvents (Pholc’s care advice).
