A rounded ceramic bud vase with a narrow mouth that holds single stems upright, in five shapes and three soft colors.

Every CEOLA vase shares the same narrow mouth, about 0.75" across (0.6" on the smallest), so one stem or twig stands straight without bending or snapping. Choose from five shapes, from the 3" × 5" bud vase to the 5" × 10" tall vase, in soft White, sandy Satellite (taupe) or Nomad (khaki). The glazed ceramic is left slightly coarse, and small bumps, color shifts and visible lines from making it give each vase its own character. Group several sizes for a shelf display.

The designer: Frederike Martens

Frederike Martens (born 1987) trained as an industrial designer at the design school in Halle, Germany, specializing in glass and ceramics. She is known for pure, simple shapes, colors chosen to last and a careful sense of proportion, without losing sight of how a piece is used every day. Her first project for blomus was the SABLO tableware line, later joined by CEOLA.

It began in 1921 making bicycle parts, moved into copper, brass, pewter and stainless-steel design pieces in 1961, and has worked under the blomus name since 2000.

Wipe the outside with a damp cloth; rinse the inside with warm water and a bottle brush between arrangements. Small bumps, slight color differences and visible lines come from the making process, so every CEOLA is a little different.
