Seat upholstery. The Rumi seat is padded and covered in PPM, a polyurethane performance leather that wipes clean. Screens show color slightly differently than real life.

Frame finishes

The Rumi is a bentwood bistro chair in the Viennese café tradition: a steam-bent solid beech frame, a tall back panel of woven cane and a round, padded seat in PPM. A double ring of bentwood under the seat braces the legs and gives the chair its classic silhouette. It is light enough to pull in and out all evening, which is why the shape has filled cafés for more than a century. Use it around a round pedestal table, along a banquette, or as the everyday chair in a Transitional or Scandinavian kitchen.

- The padded seat is more comfortable for long meals than an all-cane seat, and it wipes clean.
- Add felt pads under the legs on fine hardwood floors.
- Want arms or bar height? See the Rumi Arm Dining Chair and the Rumi Bar Stool.
- Shipping: in-stock chairs ship in 3 to 5 business days. If your seat and frame combination is out of stock or on its way to our warehouse, please allow 10 to 15 weeks for it to ship.
Who it is not for
- Outdoor terraces: cane and bentwood need to stay indoors
- Anyone who wants a stacking chair
- Rooms that need armrests at every seat: see the Rumi Arm Dining Chair
Care
Wipe PPM and faux leather with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Dust the cane with a soft brush and keep it away from direct heat and long, strong sun, which dry the weave. Wipe the frame with a dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaners. Cane, wood and upholstery vary naturally in tone from piece to piece.

The Rumi bentwood collection is designed by sohoConcept for residential and commercial interiors.
Frequently asked questions
Is the back real cane?
The back is a woven cane panel set into the bentwood frame. A woven back has a little give by design; slight movement is normal and does not affect strength.
How much weight does it hold?
It is rated for 350 lb.
Which frame finishes are offered?
Solid beech in dark brown, walnut or natural. Dark brown is the finish shown in the photos.
Will it work on hardwood floors?
Yes. The bentwood legs are light and easy to move; we suggest felt pads to protect fine hardwood.
Why is the price the same for every option?
The Rumi Dining Chair is offered at one promotional price, so black or brown PPM and every frame finish cost the same.
Is there a matching armchair and stool?
Yes. The Rumi Arm Dining Chair adds bentwood arms, and the Rumi Bar Stool brings the same cane back to bar height.
