Frame finishes

Portofino sets a deep, plush seat and back on a looping solid ash frame that runs down each side and curls under the seat like a ribbon of bentwood. The shape nods to Art Deco club chairs but stays light on its feet, so it works as a pair facing a sofa or as a single reading chair. Choose the ash in walnut or black finish, with teddy boucle in white, light brown or tan, or taupe full-grain leather. At 35 in deep it is a true lounge chair, built for sinking in, and rated for 400 lb.

Planning notes

• At 35 in deep, allow at least 4 ft from the wall to the front of the chair plus legroom.
• The bentwood sides make it narrow for its depth, only 25 in wide.
• Black-finish ash sharpens the outline against pale boucle; walnut warms it.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Dust the wood with a dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaners. Wood, leather and fabric vary naturally in grain and shade from piece to piece.
