Seat and Back. Natural rattan cane is hand-woven plant fibre with a classic open mesh. Synthetic cane webbing copies the look in a weather-resistant woven material that suits outdoor use. The optional seat cushion is an outdoor fabric that is waterproof, durable and fade resistant.

Solid Teak

The Pierre J. teak dining chair keeps the collection's signature V-shaped compass legs and open cane back, but builds them in solid grade A Indonesian teak so the chair can live on a covered patio as happily as in a dining room. Teak's natural oils resist moisture and insects, and it weathers to a soft silver if you leave it untreated. Choose natural woven rattan cane for the traditional look, or synthetic cane webbing for a seat that stands up better to sun and rain. It arrives fully assembled, is rated for 350 lb, and an outdoor seat cushion can be added for longer meals.

  • Chairs ship two to a carton, so order in pairs.
  • Add the outdoor cushion for long dinners; it covers the seat only.

Who it is not for

  • Fully exposed outdoor spaces without cover, if you choose natural cane
  • Anyone who wants armrests; see the Pierre J. teak dining armchair
  • Stacking storage

Care

Solid teak is naturally oily and weather resistant. Indoors, dust it and wipe it with a damp cloth. Outdoors, rinse it with mild soapy water now and then; left untreated, teak weathers to a silver-grey patina, or a teak oil restores the honey tone. Keep natural cane out of standing water and bring it under cover in heavy rain or winter; synthetic cane webbing takes the weather better. Wash the outdoor cushion cover with mild soap and let it air dry.

Designer credit

The Pierre J. collection is designed by the sohoConcept team. This model is made in Indonesia from grade A solid teak and woven cane.
