Seat upholstery. Faux leather is the entry option. PPM is a polyurethane performance leather, PPM-FR is its flame-retardant version, nubuck is a soft brushed finish and the off-white seat is a looped boucle. Camira Era is a woven contract fabric, Camira Blazer is a wool contract fabric, and the caramel seat is full-grain Italian leather. Screens show color slightly differently than real life.

Leg finishes

The Gazel MW armchair sets the rounded, wraparound Gazel shell on four slim steel dowel legs, giving a dining room or restaurant a soft, enclosed seat without the visual weight of a club chair. The legs come in black powder coat or stainless steel, or wrapped in walnut or natural wood veneer for a warmer look that still has the strength of steel. Plastic glides screw into each foot, and an optional memory swivel lets the seat turn and then return to face the table, which helps at banquettes and tight tables. Inside, a steel frame with S-shaped springs is molded into polyurethane foam and covered with a removable slipcover.

Planning notes

• Allow about 24 in of table edge per armchair; the shell is 21 in wide.
• Arms sit at 22.5 in, so check that they clear your table apron before ordering.
• Choose the memory swivel for banquette-side or tight seating where guests turn to get in and out.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth; skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which dull plated and powder-coated finishes. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.

Frequently asked questions

What is the MW base made of?

Four steel dowel legs, finished in black powder coat or stainless steel, or veneered in walnut or natural wood over the steel.

Does it swivel?

Not by default. The memory swivel option lets the seat rotate and return to face forward on its own; it raises the seat by about 1 in.

Will it fit under my dining table?

The seat is 17.7 in high and the arms 22.5 in, which suits most 29 to 30 in tables. Check the height under your apron if the arms should slide under.

How much weight does it hold?

It is rated for 300 lb.

Why do prices differ between seats?

Faux leather is the least expensive seat. PPM, nubuck, boucle and Camira Era cost more, and Camira Blazer wool and Italian leather cost the most. The memory swivel is an added-cost option.

Will the legs mark my floor?

Each leg has a plastic glide screwed into the foot, which keeps steel off the floor. Add felt pads for delicate hardwood.
