Coral is the workshop-style cafe chair: a molded plywood seat and back bolted to a steel frame whose broad, tapered back legs carry the load. With no upholstery to stain, it is built for busy dining rooms, school and office cafeterias, and family kitchens where chairs get wiped down daily. Pick the veneer for the seat and back in walnut, natural oak or black oak, then the frame in black, white or bronze (gold); mixing a white frame with natural oak gives a Scandinavian look, while black on black reads Industrial. The seat sits at 18 in and the chair is just 16.5 in wide, so it packs tightly around long communal tables.

Planning notes

• At 16.5 in wide, Coral fits about 22 in of table edge per chair, so you can seat more people at the same table.
• Chairs ship two to a box; order in even numbers to make the most of each carton.

Care

Wipe the veneer and the steel frame with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; skip abrasive pads, ammonia and silicone polishes, which cloud the lacquer and dull painted steel. Keep chairs out of long direct sun to slow color change in the veneer, and use felt or rubber glides on stone and tile. Veneer grain and tone vary from chair to chair.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes is the Coral chair?

It is 32 in high, 16.5 in wide and 19 in deep, with an 18 in seat height for standard 29 to 30 in tables.

Can I mix any veneer with any frame?

Yes. Each of the three veneers can be ordered on a black, white or bronze (gold) frame. Walnut on black, natural oak on white and black oak on black are the combinations most often kept in stock.

Is it comfortable without a cushion?

The molded plywood seat and back are shaped to the body and work well for meals and meetings. For longer sits, the Coral Soft Seat chair adds a padded PPM-S seat.

Why does the bronze frame cost more?

The bronze (gold) frame takes an extra finishing step, so it costs more than the black or white frames. The veneer choice does not change the price.

Is it strong enough for a restaurant?

Yes. It has a steel frame rated for 300 lb and no upholstery to stain, which suits cafes, cafeterias and other heavy-use rooms.

How is it shipped?

Coral ships two chairs per box, in a carton about 38.5 x 24.5 x 17 in.
