Frame. The seat and back are molded plywood faced in walnut, natural oak or black oak veneer, and the steel frame comes in black, white or bronze (gold). Screens show color slightly differently than real life.

Veneer and frame finishes

The Coral stool raises the plywood cafe chair to counter or bar height, keeping the broad tapered back legs and adding a steel footrest that ties all four legs together. Its molded seat and back have no upholstery, so the stool shrugs off spills at kitchen islands, coffee bars and brewery counters and wipes clean in seconds. Choose walnut, natural oak or black oak veneer on a black, white or bronze (gold) frame to match cabinetry, from a crisp white-and-oak Scandinavian kitchen to an all-black Industrial bar. The low back gives support without blocking sight lines across an open-plan room.

Planning notes

• Choose Counter for 35 to 37 in counters and islands; choose Bar for 40 to 42 in bar tops.
• Allow about 22 in of counter edge per stool.
• Leave 10 to 12 in between the seat and the underside of the counter for knees.
• Stools ship two to a box; order in pairs.
• Shipping: in-stock stools ship in 3 to 5 business days. If your frame, height and veneer combination is out of stock or on its way to our warehouse, please allow 10 to 15 weeks for it to ship.

Care

Wipe the veneer and the steel frame with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; skip abrasive pads, ammonia and silicone polishes, which cloud the lacquer and dull painted steel. Keep chairs out of long direct sun to slow color change in the veneer, and use felt or rubber glides on stone and tile. Veneer grain and tone vary from chair to chair.

Frequently asked questions

Counter or bar height?

The counter stool has a 25.6 in seat for 35 to 37 in counters. The bar stool has a 29.5 in seat for 40 to 42 in bar tops and stands 44 in overall.

Does it have a footrest?

Yes. A steel footrest links the four legs on both heights and is finished to match the frame.

Does it swivel?

No. Coral is a fixed four-leg stool, which keeps it steady and lets it sit square to the counter.

Why does the bronze frame cost more?

The bronze (gold) finish costs more than black or white. Veneer and height do not change the price.

Is it good for restaurants?

Yes. The steel frame is rated for 300 lb and the plywood seat has no fabric to stain, which suits busy counters and taprooms.

Can I mix veneer and frame colors?

Yes. Any of the three veneers can be ordered on any of the three frames.
