Base finish

The Chelsea X Sled is a low, wide occasional chair whose seat and back sit on two chrome steel runners that cross in an X beneath the frame, a nod to campaign and folding-chair silhouettes. The broad seat and reclined back suit reading corners, bedroom seating areas and hotel lobbies, and the open base keeps the chair visually light beside a sofa. Because the X frame rests on continuous runners, the load spreads evenly over hardwood, tile or a low-pile rug and the chair slides rather than tips when pulled back. Inside, a steel frame with S-shaped springs is molded in injected polyurethane foam, then upholstered in faux leather, velvet, Camira Era fabric or Camira Blazer wool.

Care

Wipe faux leather, PPM and leather with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric, velvet and boucle regularly with a soft brush and blot spills at once; do not rub. Keep the chair out of strong direct sun to protect the color, and wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.

Frequently asked questions

How is the X sled different from the Chelsea slide base?

Both are chrome steel and give the same seat height. The X sled crosses its runners under the seat for a more sculptural look; the slide base uses two parallel runners for a quieter profile.

How low is the seat?

The seat is 16.5 in high and the chair is 30.5 in tall, a relaxed lounge height rather than a dining height.

Will the base scratch my floor?

The runners spread the weight over a long contact line, which is gentler than four legs, but we suggest felt pads on soft wood.

How much weight does it hold?

It is rated for 350 lb.

Why do the prices differ?

Faux leather seats cost the least. Velvet and Camira Era fabric sit in the middle, and Camira Blazer wool is the top upholstery grade.

Can I return or exchange it?

No. The Chelsea X Sled lounge chair is a final-sale item, so it cannot be returned or exchanged once ordered. Check the size, finish and upholstery against your room before you order, and contact us first if you want a material sample.
