The Calava Ottoman is the footrest built to go with the Calava lounge armchair: a solid teak frame with a woven rope top at almost the same height as the chair seat, so legs stay level when you stretch out. On its own it is a light extra seat for a deck or a spot to set a tray. The rope is Viro fiber, a synthetic wicker that holds its weave in sun and frost, and the grade A teak frame uses the same timber as the chair. It weighs only 12 lb, so it moves easily between the patio and the living room.

Care

Grade A teak is a naturally oily, weather-resistant hardwood. Left outdoors it slowly weathers to a soft silver-grey, and the grain may rise slightly after the first few soakings. Clean it once or twice a year with a soft brush, mild soap and water; never use a power washer, which erodes the surface. Teak cannot be painted or varnished. For winter storage use a dry shed or garage, and do not move the piece straight from the cold into a heated room, as sudden changes in temperature and humidity can split the wood. Wipe the woven rope with a damp cloth and mild soap, rinse, and let it air-dry in the open.
