Base finishes

The Bottega Wire pairs the rounded, fully upholstered Bottega armchair shell with a sled base bent from solid steel wire. Because the two wire runners sit flat on the floor, the chair slides back easily on hard floors and low rugs without catching, which suits conference tables and long dining benches where people get up often. Plastic glides are set into the wire to protect the floor. Under the cover is a steel frame with S-shaped springs inside molded polyurethane foam, and the slipcover zips off. The wire comes in chrome, black, white, bone or red powder coat, or in gold or brass, and a taller high back is available.

Planning notes

• Seat height is 18 in, for standard 29 to 30 in tables; arms stand 25.5 in high, so check that they clear your apron if you want them to tuck in.
• Allow about 26 in of table length per chair; the chair is 24 in wide.
• The sled runners glide on hard floors and low-pile rugs; deep shag will slow them down.
• The high back is not offered in PPM; pick faux leather, fabric, wool or leather for the taller back.
• Shipping: in-stock chairs ship in 3 to 5 business days. If your seat and base combination is out of stock or on its way to our warehouse, please allow 10 to 15 weeks for it to ship.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth; skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which dull plated and powder-coated finishes. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.

What is the seat height?

The seat is 18 in high and the arms are 25.5 in high, which fits a standard 29 to 30 in dining or conference table.

Will the wire sled scratch my floor?

Plastic glides are embedded in the wire where it meets the floor, so the steel does not touch the surface. Check the glides now and then on stone or tile.

Which base colors can I choose?

Chrome, black, white, bone and red powder coat come at the standard price; gold and brass are upgrade finishes.

How much weight does it hold?

The Bottega Wire armchair is rated for 350 lb.

Why do the prices differ?

Faux leather is the entry cover; PPM, velvet, boucle and Camira Era cost more, and Camira Blazer wool and Italian leather cost the most. The gold and brass bases and the high back each add to the price.

Is there a taller back?

Yes. The high back option raises the back by 3.5 in for more shoulder support. It is made in faux leather, fabric, wool and leather, not in PPM.
