Seat upholstery. Faux leather is the entry option. PPM-FR, S-PPM and PPM are polyurethane performance leathers that wipe clean; the off-white boucle is a soft looped fabric; Camira Era and Camira Blazer wool are woven contract fabrics. Screens show color slightly differently than real life.

Base finishes

The Avanos Cat Wire stool sits on a frame of solid steel wire drawn in thin, angled lines, with a low bar that braces the legs and serves as the footrest. Seen from the side the wire almost disappears, so the shell seems to hover, a good trick for small kitchens and busy-looking rooms. It is the most affordable stool in the Avanos family and comes in chrome, black or brass. Under the upholstery is a molded fiberglass shell with a padded plywood seat, rated for 300 lb.

Planning notes

• Choose Counter for 34 to 36 in counters; choose Bar for 40 to 41 in bar tops.
• Allow about 23 to 24 in per stool.
• Leave 10 to 12 in between seat and counter underside.
• Use felt glides on soft wood floors.

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth; skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which dull plated and powder-coated finishes. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.

Frequently asked questions

Counter or bar height?

The counter stool has a 23.5 in seat for 34 to 36 in counters; the bar stool has a 28.5 in seat for 40 to 41 in bar tops.

How is the Cat Wire different from the Wire stool?

The Cat Wire uses a lighter, more angular wire frame and comes in chrome, black or brass; the Wire stool has a heavier wire base and adds white, bone and gold.

Is there a footrest?

Yes. A low wire bar braces the legs and works as the footrest.

Does it swivel?

No. It is a fixed stool.

Why do the prices differ?

Faux leather seats cost least, PPM, S-PPM, PPM-FR, boucle and Camira Era a little more, and Camira Blazer wool the most. The brass frame adds to the price; chrome and black cost the same.

How much weight does it hold?
