Seat upholstery. Faux leather is the entry option. PPM, PPM-FR and PPM-S are polyurethane performance leathers, the black boucle is a looped, textured fabric, and Camira Blazer is a woven wool contract fabric. Screens show color slightly differently than real life.

Base finishes

The Athena Spider pairs the rounded Athena armchair shell with a four-arm cast aluminum swivel base, so it works as well at a desk as it does at the dining table. The seat turns a full circle, which makes it easy to get in and out without dragging the chair across the floor. Add the office caster set and it rolls, lifting the seat from 18 in to about 19.5 in for a desk-height setup. Inside, a steel frame with S-shaped springs is molded in injected polyurethane foam, so the shell keeps its shape for years. Choose polished aluminum for a Modern look, black for contrast, or brass for warmth.

Planning notes

• The office casters raise the seat about 1.5 in; check your desk height before adding them.
• Leave 24 in of table edge per chair so the arms clear the table apron.
• On wood floors, casters roll freely; use a chair mat if you want to protect the finish.

• Counter or bar heights: see the Athena Piston stool
• Outdoor use

Care

Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum fabric seats regularly and blot spills right away. Wipe the metal base with a soft, dry cloth; skip abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which dull plated and powder-coated finishes. Leather and fabric vary slightly in shade from batch to batch.
