Leg finishes

The Amed Wood is a compact, fully upholstered dining chair for rooms that see daily use: a kitchen table, a family dining room, a café or a restaurant floor. The seat and back are built on a steel frame with S-shaped springs and molded polyurethane foam, and they sit on solid wood legs in beech, ash or American walnut. At 17 in wide, it lets you fit more seats along a table without crowding. The upholstery is a removable slipcover held with Velcro, so a worn or stained cover can be changed instead of replacing the chair.

Where to use it
- Kitchen and dining tables where you want upholstered comfort in a narrow footprint
- Cafés, bistros and restaurants that need chairs with replaceable covers
- Hotel breakfast rooms, staff dining rooms and meeting rooms
- Modern, Transitional and Scandinavian dining rooms: the light ash and walnut legs suit warm wood tables, and black ash suits stone and dark tops
Planning notes
- Allow about 24 in of table edge per chair. The 17 in width leaves room to spare at a standard table.
- The 18.5 in seat height suits a standard 29 to 30 in dining table.
- For high-traffic commercial floors, sohoConcept recommends the version with side stretchers, which raises the weight capacity to 400 lb.
- Mix and match: one seat color with two leg finishes, or the reverse, keeps a large table varied but consistent.
- Faux leather and the PPM leathers wipe clean, which suits restaurants and homes with children. Camira Era fabric gives a softer, warmer look.
- Shipping: in-stock chairs ship in 3 to 5 business days. If your seat and leg combination is out of stock or on its way to our warehouse, please allow 10 to 15 weeks for it to ship.
Who it is not for
- Counter or bar seating: this is a dining-height chair. sohoConcept makes counter and bar versions of the Amed.
- Rooms that need armrests
- Outdoor use
Care
Wipe faux leather and PPM with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, then dry. Vacuum Camira Era fabric regularly and blot spills right away. Dust the wood legs with a dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaners. Wood, leather and fabric vary naturally in grain and shade from piece to piece.

Frequently asked questions
Will it fit at my dining table?
The seat is 18.5 in high, which suits standard 29 to 30 in tables. The chair is 17 in wide, so most tables take one chair per 24 in of edge.
Is it strong enough for a restaurant?
It is rated for 350 lb. For heavy commercial use, sohoConcept recommends the stretcher version, rated for 400 lb.
Can the cover be replaced?
Yes. The upholstery is a slipcover held with Velcro, so it can be removed and replaced.
Which upholstery is easiest to clean?
Faux leather and the PPM leathers wipe clean with a damp cloth. Camira Era fabric carries the longest guarantee: 10 years.
Why do the prices differ?
Faux leather seats cost less than PPM, nubuck PPM and Camira Era seats. Solid American walnut legs and the chrome ring base each add to the price.
Can I order a different fabric?
The chair can be made in your own material: 1.6 yd of fabric or 23 sq ft of leather. Contact us for customer's-own-material orders.
Please note: Because this item is made to order or specially sourced, it is final sale.
