Swell Flush mounts the hand-spun Swell shade directly to the ceiling, with no cord. Its fluid, undulating aluminum form pairs a satin exterior with a glowing brass interior, and it is damp rated for covered outdoor spaces as well as interiors. Choose from Narrow, Medium and Wide shapes in standard or XL sizes, then mount them individually, in a line or in a random cluster.

Room fit: where it works best

• Covered porches and entries: a sculptural alternative to a basic outdoor ceiling light.
• Clusters: mix shapes and sizes in a line or random pattern over a table or hallway.
• XL sizes: high ceilings and large rooms where a standard fixture would look small.
• Brightness: about 1,050 lumens, similar to a 75 W incandescent bulb.

Who this is not for

• Not low-profile. Despite the name, the shade extends well below the ceiling: about 12.7" for the Narrow and about 18.7" for the XL Narrow. Skip the taller shapes over walkways with ceilings under about 8 ft.
• It hardwires to a junction box, ideally installed by an electrician.
• Not for rain-exposed or open outdoor locations. Swell is damp rated for covered areas such as porches and pergolas with a roof, not wet locations.
• If you want very warm 2700K light, ask us first: the standard bulb is 3000K, and 2700K is a special request.

Why we carry it

Swell does something few lights manage: the same fixture belongs in a dining room and on a covered patio. We've been curating modern lighting since 2009, and we like Swell because it's honest about materials — hand-spun aluminum with a warm brass interior — and because it's a system. A single pendant today can grow into a string or a cluster later, and it runs on a standard E26 LED bulb, so it won't become obsolete the day an LED module fails.

Buy once: longevity and care

• Replaceable bulb: each lamp uses a standard E26/PAR30 LED bulb (3000K, about 1,000 lumens), so light output can be renewed for decades.
• Interchangeable shades: Pablo designed the Narrow, Medium and Wide shades to be interchangeable, so you can change the look later without replacing the fixture.
• Care: dust the shade with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive or solvent cleaners on the finish and the brass interior. Outdoors under cover, wipe it down seasonally.
• Warranty: 1-year Pablo Designs product warranty (bulbs excluded, per Pablo warranty terms).

Frequently asked questions

How far does it hang down from the ceiling?

Shade heights are 12" (Narrow), 10" (Medium) and 8" (Wide) for standard sizes, and 18", 15" and 12" for XL, plus a canopy about 0.7" deep.

What is the difference between standard and XL?

XL shades are larger: 12", 18" and 24" in diameter versus 8", 12" and 16" for standard. Both use the same finishes and light source.

Can I use it outdoors?

Yes, under cover. Swell is damp rated for indoor and covered outdoor areas, such as covered porches and pergolas. It is not rated for wet locations exposed to rain.

Is Swell dimmable?

Yes. Pablo lists Swell as fully dimmable; use a dimmer rated for LED bulbs.

What color temperature is the light?

Standard lamps are 3000K warm white with 90 CRI. 2700K and 3500K versions are available on request; contact our trade desk.
