Pablo Designs Swell String Single Pendant – Medium, Modular

Swell String Single Medium is one module of Pablo's Swell string system: a hand-spun aluminum shade with a brass interior on an interconnectable socket. Link several together to run a flowing line of light from a single power source, hung straight down on vertical cables or draped along a horizontal cable. Damp rated for covered outdoor spaces, it suits pergolas and terraces as well as dining rooms and restaurants.

Room fit: where it works best

• Long runs: over bars, long dining tables, restaurant banquettes and covered terraces.
• Spacing: Pablo's drawings show lamps spaced 22–28" apart with a loose loop of cord between them.
• Mixing shapes: combine Narrow, Medium and Wide modules for a rhythmic line.
• Brightness: about 1,000 lumens per lamp, similar to a 75 W incandescent bulb.

Placement guidance is our general design rule of thumb, not a Pablo specification.

Who this is not for

• Not a complete fixture on its own: a String Single needs the Swell power feed cord and canopy (sold separately) to connect to power. If you want one ready-to-hang pendant, choose the Swell Single instead.
• Not for rain-exposed or open outdoor locations. Swell is damp rated for covered areas such as porches and pergolas with a roof, not wet locations.
• If you want very warm 2700K light, ask us first: the standard bulb is 3000K, and 2700K is a special request.

Why we carry it

Swell does something few lights manage: the same fixture belongs in a dining room and on a covered patio. We've been curating modern lighting since 2009, and we like Swell because it's honest about materials — hand-spun aluminum with a warm brass interior — and because it's a system. A single pendant today can grow into a string or a cluster later, and it runs on a standard E26 LED bulb, so it won't become obsolete the day an LED module fails.

Buy once: longevity and care

• Replaceable bulb: each lamp uses a standard E26/PAR30 LED bulb (3000K, about 1,000 lumens), so light output can be renewed for decades.
• Interchangeable shades: Pablo designed the Narrow, Medium and Wide shades to be interchangeable, so you can change the look later without replacing the fixture.
• Expandable: add more modules later, up to 34 lamps per power source.
• Care: dust the shade with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive or solvent cleaners on the finish and the brass interior. Outdoors under cover, wipe it down seasonally.
• Warranty: 1-year Pablo Designs product warranty (bulbs excluded, per Pablo warranty terms).

Frequently asked questions

What else do I need to order?

At least one Swell power feed cord and canopy per run (sold separately). A horizontal mounting kit is optional if you want to drape the string along a cable. The vertical mounting kit is included.

How many lamps can I connect?

Pablo allows up to 34 interconnected lamps from one power source; a horizontal mounting kit supports up to 12 lamps.

How big is the Medium shade?

12" (30 cm) in diameter and 12" (30 cm) tall.

Can I use it outdoors?

Yes, under cover. Swell is damp rated for indoor and covered outdoor areas, such as covered porches and pergolas. It is not rated for wet locations exposed to rain.

Is Swell dimmable?

Yes. Pablo lists Swell as fully dimmable; use a dimmer rated for LED bulbs.
