We choose the Belmont when a surface needs real light, not just an accent. The 22 in felted-wool or fabric drum puts out 3,200 lumens from two bulbs, with an in-line dimmer on the cord to bring it down for evening, and two USB ports in the compact solid-wood base keep phones and tablets charged at the same spot. It plugs into a standard outlet, so it works in homes, hotel rooms and offices without any wiring.

Installation & planning

• Plug-in only. Place the lamp within 10 ft (3 m) of an outlet; route the cord out the back.
• Allow a flat surface of at least 12 in in depth so the 10 in base and 22 in shade sit stable and visible.
• Fit two E26 LED bulbs of the A19 or A21 size; the lamp ships for LED, and Pablo notes a halogen option.
• The in-line dimmer sits on the cord; USB output is in the base.

Frequently asked questions

How deep does the surface need to be?

The base is 3.5 in deep and 10 in wide, and the shade is 6.7 in deep and 22 in wide, so a 12 in deep console or dresser is a comfortable minimum. Keep the shade clear of walls and window frames.

Where do the USB ports sit?

In the base, close to the cord exit. Pablo lists two USB charge ports on the Belmont Table.

Can I use LED bulbs?

Yes. The lamp takes two E26 A19 or A21 LED bulbs of 15 W each, giving 3,200 lm in total. Pablo also lists a BT-15 halogen option.

Which shade and wood combination is easiest to match?

Oak is the lighter, Walnut the darker and warmer base. White reads lightest; Silverdale is a soft grey; Charcoal is the darkest.

Is it safe to leave dimmed in a bedroom?

The in-line dimmer varies output from the cord switch. Follow the user guide for placement and bulb type.
