It takes an E26 Medium bulb up to 60W. A 2700K to 3000K LED bulb keeps a hallway, living room or bedroom warm; 3500K reads crisper on a stairway. It installs with the light facing up or down: up for a soft wash on the wall, down for reading and walkway light. Maxim rates it for Triac or ELV dimming. The Natural Aged Brass finish fits Transitional schemes.

Where it works best

In a hallway or living room, center each sconce at roughly eye level, about 5 ft 6 in (168 cm) up, with 8 to 10 ft between fixtures. Next to a bed, place it 2 to 2.5 ft over the mattress top so the light falls on a book. On a stairway, keep each sconce the same height above the treads.

Who this is not for

It projects 8 in, beyond the 4 in ADA limit, so it is not for a commercial corridor or a narrow public hall. It is dry rated, so it is not for a bathroom with a shower or tub, or for outdoors. Bulbs are sold separately.
