FontanaArte Luminator Floor Lamp, Indirect LED Uplight Torchiere, 72.4 in
Couldn't load pickup availability
The FontanaArte Luminator floor lamp is a 72.4 in indirect uplight for living rooms, reading corners, lobbies and hotel lounges. Instead of shining at you, it throws its light up into a slim metal cone and bounces it off the ceiling, so a whole room fills with soft, shadowless brightness from a single point on the floor. A dimmer on the cord takes it from full general lighting down to a low evening wash, and it simply plugs in, with no ceiling work at all.

Light quality and how it performs
Luminator is an ambient lamp first. The LED sits inside the cone at the top of the shaft and points straight up, so the ceiling becomes the reflector: light comes back down broad and even, without glare and without the hard pool of a shaded lamp. At 3000 lm it has enough output to act as the main light in a modest room, or to lift the general level in a large one where recessed lights feel flat. The 3000 K colour is a warm white that flatters skin, wood and plaster, and a CRI above 80 keeps colours natural. Because the LED is integrated, there is no bulb to source or change.
With the dimmer on the cord you can run it bright for cleaning, entertaining or a dark winter afternoon, then bring it right down for film nights. It is not a reading lamp: the light does not fall on a page. Pair it with a table lamp or an adjustable reading light where someone sits to read.
Size and placement
At 72.4 in (184 cm) tall, the cone sits above eye level for most people, so you see the glow on the ceiling rather than the light source. The round base is 12.2 in (31 cm) across, which means a very small footprint: it tucks into a corner, behind the end of a sofa or between a chair and a wall where a wider lamp would block a path.
- Ceiling height: indirect light works best with a light-coloured ceiling. As general guidance, ceilings of about 8 to 10 ft give an even wash; very high or dark ceilings soak up more of the light.
- Distance from the wall: placing it a short distance from a wall or in a corner adds a soft gradient up the wall as well as across the ceiling.
- Beside seating: stand it at the arm of a sofa or behind a lounge chair, keeping the base clear of walkways and door swings.
- Large rooms: two Luminators at opposite corners give balanced ambient light without ceiling fixtures.
Where it works
Living rooms and family rooms. Use it as the room's background light in place of harsh overhead fixtures, then layer table lamps for tasks. In rentals and older homes without ceiling wiring, it gives you real general lighting from an outlet.
Bedrooms and dressing rooms. Dimmed, it gives a calm, indirect glow for the end of the day that never shines into your eyes from the bed.
Halls, landings and dining rooms. Its narrow footprint suits tight spaces, and an upward wash makes a narrow corridor or a dining room with a low pendant feel taller and brighter.
Hotels, lobbies and offices. In guest-room seating areas, lounges, reception areas, waiting rooms and executive offices, Luminator brings even, glare-free light that is comfortable for long stays. It needs only an outlet, so it can be placed and moved as layouts change.
Style and pairing
A single thin shaft opening into a cone on a round base: the silhouette is pared back almost to a line, which makes Luminator easy to place in Modern and Minimalist rooms and a clean counterpoint in Transitional ones. White disappears against pale plaster and white walls and lets the light do the talking; Nickel catches reflections and suits darker palettes, walnut, leather and velvet. Let it stand alone rather than crowding it with plants or tall furniture, so the vertical line stays clear.
Why choose Luminator
- Room-filling indirect light from a plug-in lamp, with no electrician needed.
- Integrated 3000 lm LED with a warm 3000 K tone and no bulbs to replace.
- Dimmer included on the cord for both bright general light and low evening light.
- A very small round base that fits corners and sofa ends.
- Two finishes, White and Nickel, for light or dark schemes.
Care
Unplug the lamp before cleaning. Dust the shaft, cone and base with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; for marks, use a cloth barely dampened with water and dry it straight away. Do not use abrasive pads, solvents or spray cleaners on the painted metal, and keep liquids away from the cord, dimmer and power supply. Use indoors in dry rooms only.
Frequently asked questions
Can the FontanaArte Luminator light a whole room? It is designed as an ambient lamp. Its 3000 lm LED bounces light off the ceiling, so it can serve as the main light in a modest room or lift the general light in a larger one.
Is Luminator good for reading? Not on its own. The light goes up to the ceiling, not down onto a page, so add a table lamp or reading light beside the chair.
How tall is the Luminator floor lamp and how much floor space does it need? It is 72.4 in (184 cm) tall on a round base 12.2 in (31 cm) across.
Does it need a bulb? No. It has an integrated 30W LED rated at 3000 lm, 3000 K and CRI above 80.
Can I dim it? Yes. A dimmer is included on the cord and is operated by a switch button.
Will it work with a U.S. outlet? Yes. The plug-in power supply comes with interchangeable plugs, including a U.S. plug.
What ceiling works best with an uplight like this? A light-coloured ceiling of ordinary residential height reflects the most light. Dark or very high ceilings absorb more, so the room will read dimmer.
Which finish should I choose, White or Nickel? White blends into pale walls for a quieter look; Nickel has a metallic sheen that stands out against darker colours and wood.
Is it suitable for hotel and office projects? Yes. It gives glare-free ambient light for lounges, lobbies, guest rooms and offices, and it installs by plugging in.
Is Luminator certified? ETL (Intertek) certification for the U.S. market is pending.
Can it go in a bathroom or outdoors? No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms only.
