Light quality and how it performs

Cameo glows through the full height of its white glass, giving soft, diffused light all around rather than a beam. At 2700K it is a candle-warm white, and at up to 220 lumens it is bright enough to read a menu or find your way at night, yet gentle enough to leave on beside someone sleeping. The CRI above 80 keeps food, skin and fabrics looking natural.

Touch the clear button on top to switch it on or off, and hold it to dim. The integrated LED never needs replacing, and the battery gives about eight hours from a full charge. Recharge it with the USB cable supplied, using any standard USB wall adapter.

Size and placement

At 9.8 in (25 cm) tall and 4.8 in (12.2 cm) wide, Cameo fits in one hand and on almost any surface: a narrow nightstand, a bookshelf, a bathroom shelf, a bar counter or the centre of a two-top restaurant table. On a dining table, one Cameo per two or three diners gives an even, intimate glow; on a long table, space several down the centre about 24 to 36 in apart.

Outdoors, set it on a stable, level surface. The IP54 rating covers splashes and dust, so a terrace table or balcony ledge is fine, but bring it inside to charge and before heavy rain.

Choose the gold base to warm up dark walls, terracotta or walnut; choose chrome for grey, black and white schemes, glass and steel. Mixing finishes on one long table also works well.
