He favors simple, unadorned forms and believes every object has its own atmosphere as well as a shape. He has won the iF, Red Dot and Good Design awards and sits on the juries of the Good Design and iF awards. His other blomus work includes the SUKOYA shelves, AVIO oak furniture and MIYABI vases.
Why we carry it
We are an authorized blomus retailer and have been curating design-led pieces for the home since 2009. KOYOI means “this evening” in Japanese, and the collection is built for that hour. Each glass is mouth-blown from clear soda-lime glass, with a wide bowl on a short, solid glass base that looks like a block of ice. The rim is cut and highly polished with a small bevel inside and outside, and the blomus logo is sand-cast into the glass. blomus is a family company run by the fourth generation of the Blome family in Sundern, Germany. It began in 1921 making bicycle parts, moved into copper, brass, pewter and stainless-steel design pieces in 1961, and has worked under the blomus name since 2000.
Buy once: durability and care
Dishwasher safe, according to blomus, which recommends hand washing fine glassware. As with all mouth-blown glass, small flow lines, tiny bubbles or slight differences in thickness can appear.
