This is the cord-hung version of Besa Lighting’s Metro 12, a slim opal glass cylinder under a metal cone top. The cone-top cylinder is the same one Besa offers on its other mounts, 2.5 inches across and 12.5 inches tall, but it hangs on a 10-foot SVT-type cord whose jacket coordinates with the finish, under a flat canopy with a 5-inch decorative sleeve at the socket holder. You trim the cord to the drop you want at installation, and the canopy installs to a standard 4-inch box and suits sloped ceilings.

The shade is an opal matte glass cylinder under a metal cone top: the glass diffuses the light into a warm, inviting glow while the cone adds contrast and definition. Order the LED version (a 9W replaceable, dimmable LED source is included: 800 lumens at 3000K, CRI 90+) or the incandescent version for a 60W medium-base (E26) bulb of your choice. The photo shows the Satin Nickel finish; Black and Bronze share the same glass and cone.

Best for

Kitchens, dining rooms, bedsides, entries and stairwells where a flexible cord should set each pendant at its own height. The Metro 12 itself suits narrow runs over kitchen counters and bars, bedside drops, hallways and entries where a slim, pointed pendant should repeat in a line. Who this is not for

• Anyone who wants a rigid, perfectly vertical drop: the stem version holds the shade fixed.
• Anyone who wants to change the height later without recutting: the flat-canopy cord is trimmed once at installation.
• Outdoor porches and patios: it is rated for damp interior locations only.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and the cord Metro 12 is the most flexible way to hang it: the drop is trimmed on site, so every pendant in a run can be set to its exact height. Besa Lighting is an American design house based in Ohio; the Metro pairs opal glass with a metal cone top and is finished and inspected at the factory before it ships.

Buy once: durability and care

With the power off and the shade cool, wipe it with a soft cloth and dust the cord and canopy with a dry microfiber cloth (our advice). The LED source is replaceable. Installation by a licensed electrician is recommended.
