Sean Lavin’s Voto Wall Square: a 5-inch die-cast cube with a lens cut from solid optical crystal, 424 lumens of 3000K light from an integrated LED, ADA compliant and dimmable.
The Voto Wall Square is the compact, square-bodied member of Sean Lavin’s Voto family for Visual Comfort & Co.’s Modern Collection. A die-cast metal cube in Black, Satin Nickel or Antique Bronze holds a lens machined from a single block of optical crystal, and the LED sends light through that crystal both upward and downward, so the wall gets two soft fans of light and the crystal itself sparkles.
It measures 5 inches tall, 3.9 inches wide and projects just 3.9 inches, which keeps it within the ADA limit for corridors. It mounts horizontally or vertically, and the driver hides in the junction box, so nothing but the cube shows on the wall. Choose the 120V version for most homes or the 277V version for commercial circuits.

Best for
Hallways, stair landings and corridors where a sconce must stay within 4 inches of the wall, flanking a bathroom mirror, beside a bed, or repeated along a hotel or restaurant wall. Mount the center about 60–66 inches above the floor (our advice).
Installation & sizing
Our mounting guidance for a small ADA sconce like the Voto Wall Square:

- Mounting height: center of the fixture 60–66" above the floor
- Beside a mirror: a pair 28–36" apart, at eye level
- Hallway or stair: one every 8–10 ft, mounted horizontally or vertically
- Bedside: about 48–55" above the floor, over the nightstand
- Projection: 3.9" from the wall, within the 4" ADA limit for walkways
The LED driver sits inside the junction box (3.03" × 1.22" × 0.83"), so the box must be deep enough to take it. Hardwired: have a licensed electrician install it.

Who this is not for
- Anyone who needs a lot of light from one fixture: at 424 lumens it is an accent and task light, so plan on pairs or a ceiling light for general lighting.
- Exposed outdoor walls: Visual Comfort publishes no wet or damp rating for it, so treat it as an indoor sconce.
- Buyers who want the cylindrical body: that is the Voto Wall Round, a separate item that is no longer on Visual Comfort’s price list.
Why we carry it
We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and small ADA sconces are where most catalogs cut corners. Voto does not: the crystal lens is solid, the cube is cast metal, and the up-and-down glow gives a corridor rhythm without glare. It also pairs naturally with Sean Lavin’s other Modern Collection pieces.
Buy once: durability and care
There are no bulbs to replace; the LED is built in and rated for more than 50,000 hours to L70. With the power off, wipe the metal and the crystal with a soft, dry microfiber cloth; avoid ammonia and abrasive cleaners on the crystal (our advice). Installation is hardwired: have a licensed electrician mount it to a wall box deep enough for the driver.
Frequently asked questions
How bright is the Voto Wall Square?
It delivers 424 lumens from a 12.4-watt integrated LED at 3000K with 90 CRI, about what a 40-watt incandescent sconce gives, aimed up and down the wall.
Is the Voto Wall Square ADA compliant?
Yes. It projects 3.9 inches from the wall, under the 4-inch limit that applies to fixtures mounted between 27 and 80 inches above the floor in walkways.
Can I mount the Voto Wall Square sideways?
Yes. Visual Comfort designed it to mount horizontally or vertically, so the crystal lens can face left-right or up-down.
Which dimmer works with the Voto Wall Square?
The 120V version dims with low-voltage electronic (ELV) and TRIAC dimmers; the 277V version uses a 0-10V dimmer. See the dimming notes on the spec sheet.
Where does the driver go for the Voto Wall Square?
Inside the wall junction box. The driver measures 3.03 by 1.22 by 0.83 inches, so use a box with enough depth.
Should I order the 120V or the 277V Voto Wall Square?
Order 120V for a typical home circuit. The 277V item (-277) is for commercial lighting circuits; ask your electrician if you are unsure.
How does the Voto Wall Square differ from the Voto Wall Round?
The Square has a cube body; the Round has a cylindrical body. Both use the same crystal lens. Only the Square is on Visual Comfort’s current price list.
When will the Voto Wall Square ship?
Black, Satin Nickel and Antique Bronze in both voltages are in stock with Visual Comfort, and in-stock orders typically leave within 2–3 business days.
