Unilume LED Slimline: a 0.7-inch-thin 120V LED task light with 90 CRI color in three color temperatures, dimmable with ELV dimmers, linkable up to 70 units, and winner of the 2013 Product Innovation Award.
Unilume LED Slimline is Tech Lighting’s award-winning under-cabinet light, now sold under Visual Comfort & Co.’s Architectural Collection. Instead of a row of visible LEDs it uses a cluster of blue LEDs inside a highly reflective mixing chamber behind a remote-phosphor lens, so the light that reaches your counter is even and warm, with 90 CRI color that keeps food and stone looking right.
It comes in 7.2-, 13.2- and 19.2-inch lengths, in Black or White, each with a 120V driver built in and its own on-off switch. Units link together with jumper connectors, up to 70 on one feed, and dim smoothly to 15 percent on an ELV dimmer.

Best for
Kitchen upper cabinets, pantry shelves, bar backs, bathroom vanity shelves, workbenches and display niches. Pick the length about two-thirds of each cabinet’s width and mount it toward the front edge (our advice).
Installation & sizing
Our under-cabinet planning notes for the Unilume LED Slimline:

- Which length: pick the unit about two-thirds the width of each cabinet: 7" for 12" cabinets, 13" for 18–24", 19" for 27–36"
- Placement: toward the front edge of the upper cabinet, behind the light rail
- Linking: join units with jumper connectors (1"–24"); up to 70 units per run, 600 W max
- Power: plug-in wall feed into an outlet, or hardwire through the splice box
- Height: 0.7" tall: hides behind a 1" light rail
Each unit has its own on-off switch and a 120V integrated driver, so there is no remote transformer to hide. For a hardwired kitchen use the Unilume splice box; for a plug-in install use the 24" or 72" wall feed. Have a licensed electrician do hardwired runs.

Who this is not for
- Anyone who wants a tunable or color-changing strip: each unit is a fixed 2700K, 3000K or 3500K.
- Outdoor or wet locations: it is damp listed for indoors.
- Projects that need a 0-10V or TRIAC dimmer: Unilume Slimline is specified for ELV dimmers.
- A single-unit plug-in setup without the feed: the wall feed, jumpers and splice box are sold separately.
Why we carry it
We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and we keep Unilume because it solves the under-cabinet problem properly: no dotted hot spots, true color, a profile thin enough to vanish and a switch on every unit. Its 2013 Product Innovation Award and IES Progress Report selection are not marketing; they are why kitchen designers still specify it. Pair it with the jumper connectors, plug-in wall feed and splice box.
Buy once: durability and care
The LED is built in and rated for 50,000 hours to L70, so there is nothing to relamp. Wipe the lens and housing with a soft, dry cloth with the power off; keep solvents off the lens (our advice). Hardwired runs should be installed by a licensed electrician; plug-in runs use the Unilume wall feed.
Frequently asked questions
How bright is the Unilume LED Slimline?
The 7-inch unit gives 240 lumens, the 13-inch 527 lumens and the 19-inch 693 lumens, all at 90 CRI, enough for real food-prep light when you link them along a counter.
Which color temperature should I pick for the Unilume LED Slimline?
2700K matches warm incandescent and wood kitchens; 3000K is the all-round choice; 3500K suits white, gray and commercial spaces (our advice).
How do I power the Unilume LED Slimline?
Either plug it into an outlet with the Unilume plug-in wall feed (24 or 72 inch) or hardwire it through the Unilume splice box. The driver is built into every unit, so no transformer is needed.
How many Unilume LED Slimline units can I link?
Up to 70 units from one feed, 600 watts maximum per run, joined with Unilume jumper connectors from 1 to 24 inches.
Can I dim the Unilume LED Slimline?
Yes, down to about 15 percent with an ELV (electronic low-voltage) dimmer. See the dimming guide in the downloads.
Will the Unilume LED Slimline show under my cabinets?
It is only 0.7 inches tall, so it hides behind a standard light rail or the front lip of most cabinets.
Is the Unilume LED Slimline damp rated?
Yes, it is damp listed, so bathroom vanity shelves and the area above a sink are fine. It is not for outdoor or wet locations.
When will the Unilume LED Slimline ship?
All listed lengths, color temperatures and finishes are in stock with Visual Comfort, and in-stock orders typically leave within 2–3 business days.
