Lupita 53" White Console Table by TOV Furniture

A console table from TOV Furniture.

The Lupita 53" White Console Table is a console table made of iron, MDF and resin. It measures 53"W x 13.3"D x 34.5"H with a rectangular top, and TOV rates the top for up to 50 lb. At 34.5" high it is taller than most sofa backs (30–34"), so it works best in an entryway or against a wall rather than behind a sofa. At 53" long it suits a sofa about 59" long or longer (our guide: a console about 6–12" shorter than the sofa looks balanced).

Best for

Best for entryways and narrow hallways, behind a sofa or beneath a mirror or TV. Behind a sofa, keep the console at or just below the sofa back and about 6–12" shorter than the sofa; in an entryway, hang a mirror about two-thirds the console width, 4–10" above the top, and keep 36" of walkway beside it (our guide).

Who this is not for

• Sofas shorter than about 59": a console behind a sofa looks best about 6–12" shorter than the sofa (our guide).
• Low-back sofas: at 34.5" high it would rise above a sofa back lower than about 34.5" (our guide: a console at or just below the back).
• Heavy loads: TOV rates the top for up to 50 lb, so keep it to a lamp, a tray and a few books rather than heavy stone decor.
• Outdoor use: this is an indoor table; TOV makes separate indoor/outdoor concrete console tables.
