What you are really getting
Archiproducts Design Awards 2024 · Winner + Sustainability Winner
- Hand-assembled in Sydney by NEOZ, the company that made the first professional cordless table lamp in 1995.
- One charge, many evenings: about 13 four-hour evenings on low.
- Built to be kept: battery, LED and diffuser are all replaceable, backed by a 5-year lamp warranty.
- IP64 rated: rain, splashes and poolside tables are no problem.
- Hotel-proven: according to NEOZ, its lamps light tables at The Ritz London, Claridge’s and Six Senses.
Piccolo is named after the piccolo latte, the short, strong coffee that is small in the cup and big in character. NEOZ paired its proven light engine with a vertically fluted diffuser first developed for the Cooee 4, so the lamp throws a crystalline sidelight around the table and a clear downlight onto it. At just over six inches tall it suits two-tops, bar counters and bedside tables where a bigger lamp would crowd the setting.
Designer’s pick
Brushed Bronze on dark timber or marble for a warm, moody table; Stainless Steel for white tablecloths and coastal terraces.

Why cordless, and why NEOZ
A cordless lamp puts light exactly where people gather: the middle of a dining table, a terrace, a bedside with no outlet nearby. No cord to trip over, no drilling and no electrician, and unlike candles there is no flame, wax or smoke, just the same warm light every evening. NEOZ developed the world’s first professional cordless table lamp in 1995 and engineers every model for nightly restaurant service: Panasonic lithium-ion cells rated for 500+ full charge cycles, a battery you replace instead of the lamp, and charging that scales from a single base to a 48-lamp station. NEOZ notes it still services lamps that are 20 years old.

Why we carry it
We’ve been curating design-led lighting since 2009 and are an authorized NEOZ retailer. NEOZ, founded in Sydney in 1983, created the professional cordless table lamp and still hand-assembles every lamp in Australia. According to NEOZ, its lamps are specified in more than 100 countries, at venues including The Ritz London, The Ivy, Annabel’s, Claridge’s, Corinthia Rome, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, InterContinental Sapporo, Mandarin Oriental Palace Lucerne, Six Senses, Sketch London, MGM Grand Macau, Crystal Cruises and Carbone at the Riviera in Las Vegas.
Buy once: durability and care
Dust the metal with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners. If you store the lamp for a while, NEOZ advises recharging it every two to three months and keeping it below 77 °F (25 °C). When the battery eventually tires (NEOZ suggests every three to five years), replace the battery, not the lamp.
Meet the designers

The NEOZ Piccolo was designed by Peter Ellis & Gabriel Tam. Every NEOZ lamp is drawn, engineered and hand-assembled by the company’s in-house design and engineering team in Terrey Hills, Sydney, led by founder and industrial designer Peter Ellis.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the NEOZ Piccolo run on one charge?
It runs up to 17 hours on high and up to 55 hours on low and recharges in about 3.5 hours. Brightness has three levels; lower settings last longer.
Do I need the charging base for the NEOZ Piccolo?
Choose “Charging Base: Included” if this is your first NEOZ lamp. If you already own NEOZ bases, a charging tray or a trolley, choose “Not included”: the lamp works with all of them.
How long will the NEOZ Piccolo battery last, and can it be replaced?
The Panasonic lithium-ion battery is rated for 500+ full charge cycles. NEOZ suggests replacing it roughly every three to five years with regular use, and it is replaceable, so you keep the lamp.
Can Piccolo stay outside by the pool?
Yes. NEOZ rates Piccolo IP64, which means it is dust-tight and protected against splashing water, so it suits pool decks, terraces and alfresco tables. It is not made to be submerged, and it should be charged indoors.
Has the NEOZ Piccolo won design awards?
Yes: Archiproducts Design Awards 2024, Winner; Archiproducts Design Awards 2024, Sustainability Winner.
