How to choose
- New ceiling or existing cans? New: housing + trim, or can-less. Existing cans: an LED retrofit.
- Pick the size (aperture): 1"–2" for accents, 4" for most rooms, 5"–6" for wide coverage.
- Insulated ceiling? Choose IC, air-tight parts.
- Choose finish, beam and color temperature, then check the spec sheet for dimensions.
Frequently asked questions
What do I need to buy for a Nora recessed light?
Either a housing plus a trim (new construction or remodel), an LED retrofit for an existing can, or a can-less downlight that needs no can. Each product page has a "What you need to buy" section listing the compatible Nora parts.
Do Nora LED retrofits fit my existing cans?
Nora retrofits are sized by aperture (4", 5" or 6") and are designed for existing IC or non-IC cans from Nora and most other brands, using the existing bulb socket.
What is the difference between IC and non-IC housings?
IC housings can be in direct contact with ceiling insulation. Non-IC housings need clearance from insulation. For insulated ceilings, choose IC (and air-tight to meet most energy codes).
