Koji is the most sculptural of our Yama-Biko baskets. Instead of a regular grid, the wild mountain grape vine is woven in loose, overlapping bands, building a deep, three-dimensional surface that catches the light. The vine is split to a uniform 3 mm and woven by skilled craftsmen using traditional Japanese techniques, and multiple lots are woven together to create the single form. It measures 9.5 in high, 13 in long and 5 in deep, the largest of the three, in a calm natural brown that will darken and soften with years of use.
