The Collier Alabaster 40 Sconce extends the series' vertical column language to a scale that anchors a room rather than simply accenting it. At 40.3 inches tall, this is a wall fixture designed for spaces with generous ceiling heights and wall surfaces where a compact sconce would read as insufficient — entryways with high ceilings, double-height corridors, living rooms with architectural wall runs, and hospitality interiors that call for vertical elements of real presence. Multiple faceted alabaster elements are linked by custom-engineered brass connectors, each one illuminated from within by integrated LED modules.
The stacking of individual alabaster units creates a rhythm along the vertical axis — a quality of repeated form and graduated light that makes the Collier 40 interesting to look at from a distance as well as close up. The Czech-manufactured alabaster diffuses light softly and warmly, making even a long column of light feel approachable rather than harsh. The universal 120-277V driver is included and the fixture is damp-rated for bathroom and covered outdoor use.
Available in Bronze, Hand Rubbed Antique Brass, and Polished Nickel. Recommended minimum spacing of 8-10 feet between multiple sconces when used in a corridor or hallway installation.
Designed by Sean Lavin for Visual Comfort Modern Collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
What ceiling height is appropriate for the Collier 40 Sconce?
The 40-inch height reads best in spaces with ceilings at least 9–10 feet high. In standard 8-foot rooms, this size may feel overscaled vertically. For lower ceilings, the Collier 15 or 28 sconces are more appropriate choices.
Can multiple Collier 40 sconces be used in a series along a wall?
Yes — the Collier Alabaster family is designed to be used in multiple-sconce configurations along hallways, dining rooms, and living spaces. A minimum spacing of 8–10 feet between fixtures is recommended for a balanced spread of light.
Can I mix sizes within the Collier family in the same space?
Yes — the consistent design language, finish options, and material quality across Collier sizes allows different heights to coexist in the same installation. A mix of heights can create a deliberate rhythm or hierarchy of light points in a space.
Is this appropriate for bathroom use?
The fixture is damp-rated, making it suitable for bathroom use outside of direct water spray zones. It is not wet-rated for in-shower installation.
