The Plural Dome 24 Picture Light by Sean Lavin for Visual Comfort Modern is the specification-grade solution to artwork lighting — a 24-inch LED picture light with a 95+ CRI rating and 2-step LED binning that produces the color fidelity required to render oil paint, photography, and mixed media accurately on a wall. At 0.55 inches of profile depth, the fixture sits almost flush against the wall surface, making the light source itself invisible from any normal viewing angle. The pivoting head adjusts up to 35 degrees, allowing precise beam placement across artwork of varying heights and projection distances without moving the mount.
The crystal shade diffuses the integrated 14.3W LED source into a soft, even wash — no hot spot at the center, no falloff at the edges of a 24-inch span. Available in four finishes — Dark Bronze, Polished Nickel, Nightshade Black, and Natural Brass — and in 2700K or 3000K at checkout. Universal 120–277V driver. Two canopy options are available: the standard flanged canopy, and a flangeless mud-in canopy with custom junction box for installations where a completely flush wall surface is specified. ETL listed. Five-year warranty. Free shipping at MetropolitanDecor.com.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why does 95+ CRI matter for artwork lighting?
A: CRI (Color Rendering Index) measures how accurately a light source renders color compared to natural daylight. At 95+ CRI with 2-step binning, the Plural Dome produces light that renders pigments, glazes, and photographic dyes very close to their true color — critical for works where subtle color relationships are part of the composition. Standard 80–90 CRI fixtures introduce noticeable color shifts in reds, yellows, and skin tones.
Q: What is the difference between the flanged and mud-in canopy?
A: The flanged canopy is a standard surface-mount installation — the fixture attaches to a visible wall plate. The mud-in (flangeless) canopy requires rough-in during construction or renovation and installs completely flush to the wall surface with no visible hardware. Mud-in is specified when the goal is a completely clean wall plane with the fixture appearing to emerge from the wall itself.
Q: Can I use this for large-scale artwork over 24 inches wide?
A: The 24-inch bar covers artwork up to approximately 24–30 inches wide effectively. For wider pieces, use two units — the consistent color temperature and CRI across units ensures seamless coverage. The 35° pivot on each unit allows independent targeting.
