Cranium is Vallvé's skull collection, designed by Pedro Sedó and introduced in 2018. Vallvé describes the skull as a symbol of change, renewal and the force of thought, and ultimately of wisdom. The Vintage pieces pair a resin skull with stainless steel and brass, finished by hand in polish and/or matte.

Specifications

Brand: Vallvé (São Paulo, Brazil)

Collection: Cranium Vintage

Designer: Pedro Sedó (2018)

Type: Towel rack

Color: Smoke

Finish: Polished

Material: Resin, stainless steel and brass

Dimensions: 9¾ × 6 × 17¾ in (24.8 × 15.2 × 45.1 cm) (per Vallvé and the matching Red rack; the distributor's Smoke listing says 13¾ × 6 × 18 in)

Placement: Countertop

Weight: Not published by the distributor

Made in: Brazil (handmade, per Vallvé)

Care: Wipe clean by hand (our advice)

Item number (MPN): 013001302001

EAN barcode: 7892402000244

Shipping: Ships in 2–3 business days

Features

Resin, stainless steel and brass

Smoke, polished finish

Part of Vallvé's Cranium Vintage collection

Handmade in São Paulo, Brazil (per Vallvé)

Best for

Stand it next to the basin for a hand or guest towel. The Cranium Vintage pieces look like objects rather than accessories, and they are made to be used every day.

The Vallvé story

Vallvé was founded in São Paulo in 1962 by Josep Maria Sedó Vallvé, who came to Brazil from the Priorat region of Catalonia. He built his own machinery and techniques for working resin together with metal, wood and acrylic. Vallvé opened its first showroom, Cristal Banho, in 1978, and in the 1990s his son Pedro Sedó took over and made it the leader in luxury bath accessories in Brazil. Since 2003 it has won the Top of Mind Casa & Mercado award in the bathroom boutique category, and Vallvé says its production is still 100% handmade.

Worth the investment

Used every day for five years, $1,100 comes to about $0.60 a day (our math). You are paying for a hand-finished piece from a company that has worked in resin for more than 60 years, not a molded plastic copy.

Buy once: durability and care

Neither Vallvé nor the distributor publishes care instructions. Resin is durable but can scratch, so wipe it with a soft, damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry it with a microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach, solvents and nail-polish remover, and keep it out of the dishwasher. Dry metal parts after splashes to avoid water spots (our advice).

Frequently asked questions

What are the dimensions of the Vallvé Cranium Vintage towel rack?

9¾ × 6 × 17¾ in (24.8 × 15.2 × 45.1 cm) (per Vallvé and the matching Red rack; the distributor's Smoke listing says 13¾ × 6 × 18 in).

What is the Cranium Vintage towel rack made of?

Resin, stainless steel and brass, in Smoke with a polished finish.

What size towel fits on the Cranium Vintage towel rack?

A hand or guest towel.
