Thirty-two planes, each folded by hand from birch veneer, form a loose sphere around the bulb, so the light warms and catches every wing. At 31.5" across it is a joyful centerpiece for a dining room, an entrance or a child’s room.

Specifications

Brand: Tom Rossau (Copenhagen, Denmark)

Model: TR747 Pendant

Designer: Tom Rossau, 2016

Type: Statement pendant: 32 hand-folded birch-veneer paper planes in a loose sphere around the bulb

Colors: Natural Birch

Dimensions: 31.5" diameter × 23.6" high (80 × 60 cm)

Weight: 17.44 lb

Materials: Hand-folded birch veneer

Light source: One E26 socket, max 60W incandescent or 15W LED; bulb not included (Tom Rossau recommends a warm 2700K A19/A60 LED of 5–8W)

Dimming: Dimmable with dimmable LED bulbs and a compatible wall dimmer (not included)

Suspension: 118" (3 m) fabric-covered suspension cable

Canopy: 3.5" × 3.5" × 3.3" polypropylene canopy in black; works on sloped ceilings

Assembly: Arrives fully assembled

Electrical: 120V, UL listed (US version)

Origin: Handmade in Copenhagen, Denmark

Warranty: 2 years (24 months) against manufacturing defects

Lead time: Made to order in Copenhagen: delivered in about 10 weeks (70 days).

Item numbers (MPN): Natural Birch: 608

Features

32 hand-folded birch veneer paper planes

31.5" × 23.6"

One E26 bulb, dimmable with a dimmable LED

Black canopy

Handmade in Copenhagen

Best for

Dining rooms, entrances, children’s rooms, stairwells and boutique hotels. Every Tom Rossau lamp is still built by hand in the company’s own workshop on Frederiksberg Allé in Copenhagen, by a single lamp builder who signs the card that comes with it.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and the TR747 is a lamp with a story, and customers fall in love with it instantly.

Buy once: durability and care

Dust the birch strips with a soft, dry brush; keep the lamp away from water, steam and humid rooms, because moisture softens the veneer and can make stained colors bleed. Like all natural wood, the birch slowly develops a patina and may shift its shape very slightly over the years: Tom Rossau calls it a living material. Tom Rossau covers manufacturing defects for 2 years.
