Made exclusively in birch veneer, its curved strips form a vessel shape inspired by ancient Greek and Roman pottery, cut and shaped so the wood bends naturally. It gives a soft, warm glow and comes in a compact 11.8" × 13" or a larger 15.75" × 21.65".

Specifications

Brand: Tom Rossau (Copenhagen, Denmark)

Model: TR42 Pendant

Designer: Tom Rossau, 2023

Type: Vessel-shaped pendant of curved birch strips: the TR10 hourglass cut in half

Colors: Natural Birch

Sizes: 11.8" diameter × 13" high (30 × 33 cm); 15.75" × 21.65" (40 × 55 cm)

Weight: 4.21 lb (small); 5.31 lb (large)

Materials: Hand-assembled strips of birch veneer

Light source: One E26 socket, max 60W incandescent or 15W LED; bulb not included (Tom Rossau recommends a warm 2700K A19/A60 LED of 5–8W)

Dimming: Dimmable with dimmable LED bulbs and a compatible wall dimmer (not included)

Suspension: Suspension cable: 98.4" (2.5 m) on the small, 106.3" (2.7 m) on the large

Canopy: 3.5" × 3.5" × 3.3" polypropylene canopy in white; works on sloped ceilings

Assembly: Arrives fully assembled

Electrical: 120V, UL listed (US version)

Origin: Handmade in Copenhagen, Denmark

Warranty: 2 years (24 months) against manufacturing defects

Lead time: US stock options (15.75 × 21.65 in (40 × 55 cm)) ship in about 3 business days. Every Tom Rossau lamp is still built by hand in the company’s own workshop on Frederiksberg Allé in Copenhagen, by a single lamp builder who signs the card that comes with it.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and the TR42 connects Tom Rossau’s history with something new, and its birch glow is irresistible.

Buy once: durability and care

Dust the birch strips with a soft, dry brush; keep the lamp away from water, steam and humid rooms, because moisture softens the veneer and can make stained colors bleed. Like all natural wood, the birch slowly develops a patina and may shift its shape very slightly over the years: Tom Rossau calls it a living material. Tom Rossau covers manufacturing defects for 2 years.
