Its Finnish birch veneer strips are cut with a circular stroke, so every end is rounded, the series’ signature. It ships flat-packed, which Tom Rossau says cuts packaging waste by up to 80%, and you assemble it at home, taking part in making your own lamp. The result hides the bulb and gives a soft, atmospheric glow.

Specifications

Brand: Tom Rossau (Copenhagen, Denmark)

Model: No.111 Pendant

Designer: Tom Rossau, 2022

Type: Slim pendant of round-ended birch strips, shipped flat for you to assemble

Colors: Natural Birch

Sizes: 7.1" diameter × 16.9" high (18 × 43 cm); 7.9" × 28.3" (20 × 72 cm)

Weight: 2 lb (small); 4.21 lb (large)

Materials: Finnish birch veneer strips cut with rounded ends

Light source: One E12 candelabra socket, max 60W incandescent or 15W LED; bulb not included (Tom Rossau recommends a warm LED)

Dimming: Dimmable with dimmable LED bulbs and a compatible wall dimmer (not included)

Suspension: Suspension cable: 74.8" (1.9 m) on the small, 86.6" (2.2 m) on the large

Assembly: Ships flat-packed for simple assembly at home

Electrical: 120V, UL listed (US version)

Origin: Handmade in Copenhagen, Denmark

Warranty: 2 years (24 months) against manufacturing defects

Lead time: Made to order in Copenhagen: delivered in about 10 weeks (70 days).

Item numbers (MPN): 7.1 × 16.9 in (18 × 43 cm): 2001; 7.9 × 28.3 in (20 × 72 cm): 2002

Features

Flat-packed for simple home assembly

Round-ended Finnish birch strips

Up to 80% less packaging waste (per Tom Rossau)

Two sizes

E12 bulb

Best for

Bedrooms, kitchen islands, hallways and dining nooks. Every Tom Rossau lamp is still built by hand in the company’s own workshop on Frederiksberg Allé in Copenhagen, by a single lamp builder who signs the card that comes with it.

Why we carry it

We have been curating design-led lighting since 2009, and No.111 is the most sustainable way into Tom Rossau’s work, and the assembly makes it personal.

Buy once: durability and care

Dust the birch strips with a soft, dry brush; keep the lamp away from water, steam and humid rooms, because moisture softens the veneer and can make stained colors bleed. Like all natural wood, the birch slowly develops a patina and may shift its shape very slightly over the years: Tom Rossau calls it a living material. Tom Rossau covers manufacturing defects for 2 years.
