The simple cylindrical and orthogonal form matched the couple’s own furniture. This edition, made with the Fondation Arp, is turned from solid beech in the Black Forest, finished in glossy paint in four classic colors and fitted with a brass insert.

The originals are at the Arp foundation in Paris. Taeuber-Arp (1889–1943) was a Swiss artist, architect and designer whose work blended fine art and craft across painting, sculpture, textiles and dance. IC Design lists them at 20 cm tall and 4.5 cm across, fitting taper candles, with brass insets made in Switzerland and a decorative gift box.

Specifications

Brand: IC Design (Zurich)

Model: Sophie Taeuber-Arp Wooden Candlestick

Designer: Sophie Taeuber-Arp, 1929

Materials: Solid beech wood, glossy paint, brass inserts

Colors: Blue, Red, White, Yellow

Edition: In collaboration with the Fondation Arp, Clamart (2024)

Dimensions (icdesign.ch): H 20 cm × Ø 4.5 cm (about 7.9" × 1.8")

Candle: Fits taper candles (icdesign.ch); not included

Made in: Germany (turned in the Black Forest)

Item numbers (MPN): Red: IC-STA-WS-Red; White: IC-STA-WS-White; Blue: IC-STA-WS-Blue; Yellow: IC-STA-WS-Yell

Features

Solid beech wood, glossy paint, brass inserts

Designed by Sophie Taeuber-Arp (1929)

Made in Germany (turned in the Black Forest)

IC Design edition

Best for

Dining tables, mantels, sideboards and gifts.
