A glowing inner column of painted Pyrex glass sits inside a smoky grey-fumé blown-glass capsule, so the light comes through soft and warm and the lamp looks like a lit lantern on the table. The integrated LED is bright enough to light a corner of the room, dims on the cord and simply plugs in.

Quick facts

Product: Meridiano table lamp

Brand: FontanaArte, Milan, Italy

Item number (MPN): F441705550NFWL

Type: Plug-in LED table lamp with glass diffuser

Best for: sideboards, consoles, credenzas, wide nightstands, desks, hotel lobbies, reception desks, restaurants and bars

Height: 17.2 in (44 cm)

Diameter: 12.2 in (31 cm)

Light source: integrated LED, 25W, 2900 lm, 2700 K warm white, typical CRI above 90

Light: diffused; dimmable with the dimmer included on the cord

Power: plug-in; black power cable with dimmer and power supply on the plug with interchangeable plugs, including a U.S. plug

Rating: IP20, dry indoor locations only

Materials: blown glass outer diffuser; internally painted Pyrex glass inner diffuser; nickel-plated metal fitting

Finish: Grey Fumé

Certification: ETL (Intertek) pending

Designer: Gabriele and Oscar Buratti (2020)

Styles: Modern, Contemporary, Transitional

ETL (Intertek) certification for the U.S. market is in progress for this lamp.

Light quality and how it performs

The light in Meridiano passes through two layers of glass. Inside, a painted Pyrex cylinder turns the LED into a soft, even column of light; outside, a blown-glass capsule tinted grey-fumé tones it down and gives it depth. You see a warm lantern glow, never a bare LED point.

With 2900 lm on tap, the table version is unusually bright for a decorative lamp, so it can light a whole end of a room on a sideboard, and the included dimmer takes it down to a gentle glow for evenings.
